Project name:

An Austrian university offers a big variety of reference laboratory testing for joint research as well as In Vitro Diagnostic medical devices and reagents under technical or research cooperation or commercial agreements.

Status: Idea
Creation date: 22-12-2021

Project objectives:

Summary

An Austrian university provides a core bio-laboratory facility for a wide range of collaborations (technical coop. agreements, research cooperation agreements or commercial agreements). The department can be used for the development, testing and validation of existing and new devices and reagents, with focus on life sciences, in vitro diagnostics, point-of-care and microfluidic systems. The research facility is aimed at companies interested in applied biomedical sciences.

Description

The Austrian university is specialised in testing, validation and establishment of new diagnostic test systems. By using comparative measurements with human sample material in the low, normal and high reference range, it is possible to correlate new test systems with measured values from standardised laboratory analysis devices in the entire reference or measurement range. In this way, targeted optimisation of existing and new methods in the field of point-of-care testing can be achieved.

The offer in this field is unique and the university can look back to the successful acquisition and implementation of projects in basic and applied research as well as expertise in preanalytics, point-of-care systems and e-health.

The necessary infrastructure and qualified personnel for the analysis of human material, cell lines and bacterial cultures ensure processing based on current guidelines and applicable regulations. Thus, the precision of the test results as well as patient safety can be guaranteed.

Reference and stability tests of reagents for companies as well as patient sample measurements for clinical studies are also offered. The university is already involved in ongoing cooperations with two worldwide leading manufacturers of reagents for haemostaseology as well as allergy and autoimmune diagnostics, and two research institutes of Austrian hospitals.

This wide range of services not only supports companies in the development of high-quality and reliable medical products, but at the same time increases the accuracy of patient diagnostics.

The technology offer provider is interested in:
1. Technical cooperation agreements with manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic, point-of-care medical devices or the life science sector which are in need of reference testing and validation for their products in development.

  1. Research cooperation agreements with other research institutes which do not have the infrastructure or personell to perform specific experiments for their studies.
  2. Commercial agreements with technical assistance with companies active in medical diagnostics which want to re-evaluate testing protocols or stability of reagents.

Advantages & innovations

The Austrian university offers the following new technologies: * Performing analyses in a variety of different areas: clinical chemistry, haematology, haemostaseology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, histology and cell culture. * Testing of new diagnostic systems or reagents with human samples in an S2 laboratory under controlled conditions and highest quality standards. * Provision of healthy and pathological sample material * Comparison of new measurement methods with established laboratory analysers * Expertise in sample handling, influence of preanalytics on analysis, documentation and importance of internal and external quality controls * Continuous involvement in the latest developments through existing cooperations with technology leaders in the field of life sciences
