Full description The Czech SME expects pipelines for a transport of hydrogen to be in high demand in next few years and would like to offer its expertise in material testing. The joint project should be focused on the development and testing of coatings leading to a reduction in the permeability of pipeline systems for hydrogen. The SME offers two reactors for testing materials in a hydrogen environment and very broad knowledge in the field of nanotechnology and coatings. The company is looking for partners willing to take the lead in project coordination and help in the development of solutions and their implementation. Joint research project is expected.

Advantages and innovations Currently, the idea of hydrogen as a gas substitute is a very current and interesting topic. However, most of the current pipeline systems are not ready for hydrogen, which has different properties than gas. The SME is working on an spray coat that could seal the permeability of pipeline systems so that they will be able to conduct hydrogen without major losses.

Technical Specification or Expertise Sought The SME is looking for partners wishing to join the project and preferably having experience with hydrogen projects.
