Project name:

Slovenian elderly care center seeks IT company to develop a software application for nutrititional screening and to apply for AAL Call2021

Status: Idea
Creation date: 12-04-2021

Project objectives:

Summary
A privately owned Slovenian center for comprehensive care of the elderly, established in 1995. manages elderly care units in eight Slovenian towns. They will apply as a lead partner to the ALL call Active Assisted Living Programme Ageing Well in the Digital World Call2021 (H2020 Societal Challenge). They are looking for an additional partner, an IT company that can develop a software application for nutritional screening.

Description
The outcome of the project will be a newly developed software application (Android OS and iOS) for nutritional screening, connected with program equipment to be used in nursing homes. The test/app would detect malnutrition as well as frailty and will help deciding on proper treatment of malnutrition. Dietitians are just starting to be part of the multidisciplinary teams in nursing homes and are currently rare, so most of the work associated with nutritional screening falls on nursing staff. This app will make screening faster and easier. It will also suggest first treatment steps (for the malnutrition etc.) so the multidisciplinary team will only review, confirm or reject the proposed steps. The results of the nutritional screening will be transparent and saved in the app, so keeping the documents will be much easier and less messy, not to mention environmentally friendly.

The Call to be applied for is AAL (Active Assisted Living Programme Ageing Well in the Digital World ) Call2021 (H2020 Societal Challenge).

There are already three partners for this proposal. The first one is a Slovenian research institute that will develop algorithm for suggesting the plan of action depending on diagnosis and nutrition status for each patient. The second partner is a large multinational medical devices and health care company that will develop a new, innovative test for elderly, that detects malnutrition as well as frailty and helps to decide proper treatment for the patient. Slovenian privately owned center for comprehensive care will be the leading partner.
The requested partner should be an IT company (app developing experience) that would help to develop an application (Android OS and iOS) for nutritional screening, connected with program equipment. The IT company would also develop an algorithm for suggesting the plan of actions depending on diagnosis and nutrition status.

Official deadline for the call is 21. 5. 2021 (21 May 2021 at 17:00 hours Central European Time (CET).

Deadline for the EOI is 30. 4. 2021.

Advantages & innovations
The IT application developed for Android OS & iOS would provide tracking of nutrition for the elderly. It will be connected with program equipment, used in nursing homes and would detect malnutrition, plan and evaluate nutritional therapy.
