The Ministry has launched a new €631 million funding scheme under the Innovation Agreements (Accordi per l’Innovazione) programme, aimed at supporting research and development projects that can drive the technological evolution of the automotive supply chain.
The initiative is open to both SMEs and large companies, including vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers (from electronics and software to mechatronics), as well as research centres. Projects may also be carried out in partnership.
The scheme supports industrial research and experimental development projects, with investments ranging from €5 million to €40 million, across three areas: new mobility solutions and more efficient propulsion systems; components and technologies for sustainable, autonomous, connected and safe mobility; and diversification and conversion of the automotive supply chain towards strategic, R&D-intensive technologies.
Support includes a non-repayable grant of up to 50% for industrial research activities and up to 25% for experimental development, which may be combined with a subsidised loan of up to 20%.
Applications can be submitted from 25 November 2026, while the application preparation procedure will be available from 11 November 2026.
