PNO GERMANY  is building a European consortium to advance agricultural PV (Agri-PV) deployment and is looking for experienced project developers with potential demonstration sites across Europe.

The initiative aims to demonstrate how renewable energy generation and agricultural activities can successfully coexist, creating synergies for plant protection and growth with renewable energy generation and use. To achieve this objective, the consortium plans to involve demonstration sites across different European climatic regions, collectively contributing to approximately 5 MW of Agri-PV capacity.

To strengthen the consortium, PNO Innovation is seeking:
- Project developers with proven experience in developing, constructing, or operating Agri-PV projects, across several European countries, enabling the cross-border transfer of knowledge and the replicability of projects
- Owners or operators with advanced plans of building new Agri-PV installations, preparing for permission, with and without grid connection.

The project will bring together key stakeholders across the Agri-PV value chain and contribute to the wider adoption of Agri-PV throughout Europe. The results will comprise identification of the most suitable technical solutions for different crops, locations and operating conditions, access to reliable data from multi-site demonstrations, evidence on energy performance, agricultural productivity and system flexibility.

Beyond electricity generation, additional value propositions will be explored, incl. storage, self-consumption, demand response and grid services; and an improved farm resilience through the integration of irrigation, cooling and controllable farm loads.

Finally among the expected outcomes are more robust and evidence-based investment assessments, an improved bankability of Agri-PV projects, and digital tools for reducing the uncertainty during the design phase and improving performance in operation.

The aim is to develop Agri-PV from isolated demonstration projects into a mature, bankable and replicable infrastructure category, capable of supporting both the European agricultural sector and its energy transition.
