The latest BEPA initiative argues that Europe’s battery challenge is turning R&I results into industrial capacity. The Materials for Batteries whitepaper brings a project-level perspective to this challenge, showing how promising raw material production technologies can stall due to gaps in demonstration infrastructure, higher-TRL funding, technology transfer, permitting etc. Its recommendations call for an integrated funding architecture that connects successive stages from research and demonstration through to industrial scale-up, as well as coordinated support across extraction, refining, battery-grade materials and recycling.
