COUPLED is a Horizon Europe project developing an innovative approach to convert CO₂ into sustainable fuels through the integration of chemical looping, CO₂ separation, and advanced fuel synthesis technologies.

By combining green hydrogen or biogas with CO₂, the project produces syngas that can be upgraded into carbon-neutral fuels such as methanol and sustainable aviation fuel. The system is being developed and demonstrated at industrial relevance (TRL7), with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and business viability.

The project brings together 15 partners from 7 countries across the full value chain. PNO Innovation Italia contributes by leading dissemination, communication, and exploitation activities, as well as supporting social acceptance and market uptake of the project results.

COUPLED aims to enable scalable and cost-effective pathways for renewable fuels, supporting Europe’s decarbonisation and energy transition goals.
