The Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail) launched on 30 October the Call for Proposals 2025-02, with a total EU funding of €148.2 million, for expected projects worth €245 million.
This new call aims to build on the results of previous Flagship Projects and to bring European rail technologies to higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), supporting the transformation of the European rail system towards a more digital, sustainable, resilient, and competitive transport mode.

- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-FA2-01 – Digital and automatic up to automated train operations (budget: €33,100,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-FA3-01 – Intelligent & integrated asset management (budget: €32,800,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-FA4-01 – A sustainable and green rail system (budget: €26,600,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-FA5-01 – Sustainable, competitive, digital green rail freight services (budget: €20,400,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-FA6-01 – Regional rail services / innovative rail services to revitalize capillary lines (budget: €10,000,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-EXPLR-01 – Studies on rail industry 5.0 (budget: €600,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-EXPLR-02 – Studies on innovation in climate finance for rail (budget: €600,000)
- HORIZON-JU-ER-2025-EXPLR-03 – Extending the rail network of PhDs (budget: €1,000,000)
