A new decree has been published unlocking €1.3 billion in funding for the automotive sector through 2030. Seventy percent of the available resources will be allocated to companies operating across the automotive supply chain, including vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers (from electronics and software to mechatronics).
The largest share of the funding—approximately €631 million—will support research, development and innovation (R&D&I) projects focused on advanced technologies for sustainable, autonomous, connected, intelligent and safe mobility through the Innovation Agreements funding scheme.
A further €300 million will finance investment programmes by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the automotive components sector through the Mini Development Contracts scheme.
Both funding programmes will follow a competitive selection process, with projects ranked according to evaluation criteria that will be defined in a forthcoming decree.
The application window is expected to open this autumn.
