The future of logistics is not about automating individual parts of the transport chain. It is about making the entire system work together.

This is the perspective that PNO Innovation Italia will bring to the ALICE Logistics Innovation Summit 2026, taking place on 17–18 November in Brussels, where the team will showcase the Horizon Europe project SEAMLESS at a dedicated booth.

As automation and digitalisation advance, the challenge is increasingly shifting from developing individual technologies to integrating them into efficient, resilient and economically viable logistics chains. This requires technology, infrastructure, operations and business models to evolve together – while creating the conditions for innovative solutions to move beyond demonstration towards real-world uptake.

SEAMLESS provides a concrete example of this approach. The project is developing and demonstrating solutions to integrate automated waterborne transport into multimodal logistics chains, connecting autonomous vessels with shore-side infrastructure, remote operations and digital logistics solutions.

Within SEAMLESS, PNO Innovation Italia supports communication, dissemination and exploitation, helping connect technological developments with stakeholders, market perspectives and pathways towards future uptake.

At the ALICE Logistics Innovation Summit, PNO Innovation Italia will bring this experience to the wider European logistics community through the SEAMLESS booth, creating an opportunity to exchange on what is needed to turn automation into an integrated part of tomorrow’s freight transport system.

Because the next step for logistics innovation is not simply more automation. It is making automation work as part of the whole system.
