The RFCS Big Tickets calls for proposals for 2026 have been published and will officially open for submission on 17 February 2026.
The Big Tickets – Steel calls fall under the RFCS Research Programme and support research and development projects aimed at the decarbonisation of the steel industry. The calls focus on innovative technologies to make steel production more sustainable and low-carbon, support the development of new near-zero-carbon steel products, and promote efficient resource use, circular economy practices, and environmental protection.
The submission deadline is on 6 May 2026, 17.00 CET Brussels time for the following calls:

- RFCS-2026-Steel-Big Tickets under the Steel and Metals Action Plan: RFCS-2026-Steel-Big Tickets (SMAP)
- RFCS-2026-Steel-Big Tickets under the Clean Industrial Deal: RFCS-2026-Steel-Big Tickets (CID)
