From 3–5 June 2026, the SEAMLESS consortium gathered in Horten, Norway, for a milestone week combining the successful Demonstration Use Case 1 (DUC1) Demonstration Day and the project's 6th General Assembly.
Hosted by the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), the DUC1 Demonstration Day showcased how autonomous vessel operations, remote monitoring and control, smart cargo handling and digital logistics platforms can be integrated into a seamless logistics ecosystem. Participants visited Massterly's Remote Operation Centre (ROC), explored MacGregor's automation solutions, and discovered how the ModalNET platform supports real-time coordination across multimodal transport networks.
The event brought together industry leaders, researchers, policymakers and students, fostering valuable discussions on the future of autonomous shipping, the importance of stakeholder collaboration, and the regulatory and societal challenges that accompany technological innovation.
Building on the success of the demonstration, consortium partners met on 4–5 June for the SEAMLESS General Assembly. Discussions focused on lessons learned from DUC1, preparations for Demonstration Use Case 2 (DUC2), project progress, impact assessment, business models, dissemination and exploitation activities.
As leader of the project's communication, dissemination and exploitation activities, PNO contributed to discussions on stakeholder engagement, visibility and the long-term uptake of SEAMLESS results.
Together, the DUC1 Demonstration Day and the General Assembly highlighted the strong progress achieved by the consortium and reinforced SEAMLESS's commitment to accelerating the transition towards smarter, more sustainable and automated waterborne logistics in Europe.
