SOLMATE repeatedly faced the same issue: many used PV panels were sent straight to recycling after a brief visual check, even when they could still be assessed for second‑life use. The project needed a practical way to avoid losing viable panels. Working with the teams responsible for collection, testing and qualification, a short guideline was prepared on how panels should be removed, packed and transported so they can be examined properly. PNO Belgium coordinated the drafting and brought the relevant expertise together to ensure the guidance reflects the realities on the ground. The guideline is now available for anyone involved in dismantling or handling PV panels during decommissioning. Download the guideline.
