Spain has approved its first national law to prevent food loss and waste — a major step toward the EU’s 2030 targets under the Farm to Fork Strategy.

The new law includes mandatory food donations, takeaway rights for leftovers, and support for the sale of “imperfect” food.

These measures strongly align with the BREADCRUMB project, which investigates how food marketing standards influence waste and promotes market access for suboptimal food.
