How can captured CO₂ become a valuable resource for the production of more sustainable polyester materials?

This is the challenge at the heart of THREADING-CO₂, a Horizon Europe project in which PNO Innovation Italy supports communication and dissemination activities.

On 10 September, the consortium gathered in Antwerp for its third Periodic Review Meeting, an important milestone to assess progress achieved during the project’s third reporting period and discuss the latest developments with the granting authority and an external expert.

Partners presented advances across the entire THREADING-CO₂ value chain: from the scale-up of the MEG production process and the development of pre-industrial and industrial demonstration facilities, to polymer and fibre production trials, Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment, learning resources and communication and dissemination activities.

The meeting also included a visit to the pilot facilities at the University of Antwerp and FAIR, providing a first-hand look at the technological progress towards larger-scale demonstration.

For PNO Innovation Italy, the project is also about ensuring that technological advances are effectively communicated and disseminated, helping translate research results into awareness, engagement and, ultimately, impact.

As THREADING-CO₂ enters its next phase, PNO will continue supporting the consortium in bringing its results closer to relevant stakeholders and increasing the visibility and reach of its innovations.
