Project name:

A Bulgarian research institute offers a battery tester intended for low energy capacity batteries

Status: Idea
Creation date: 20-04-2022

Project objectives:

Summary A Bulgarian research institute with more than 40 years of experience in R&D of specialised technologies and products for the aerospace and advanced materials industries has developed a precise tester for battery and accumulator tests with capacity up to 100 milliamperes per hour (mA/h). The institute seeks commercial agreements with technical assistance with battery developer companies.

Description

The research unit has broad R&D activities in the field of space physics, remote sensing, aerospace systems and technologies, composite and advanced material, special purpose devices. It has implemented successfully national and international project with research and industrial partners.

The battery tester is an electronic device intended for testing the state of battery - for testing the charge actually present in the cells and/or its voltage output, to a more comprehensive testing of the battery's condition, namely its capacity for accumulating charge and any possible flaws affecting the battery's performance and security. It is an essential tool for all researchers involved in and battery development and the field of electrochemical sources of electricity as a whole.

The innovative tester of low-capacity electrochemical sources developed by the institute supports up to eight independent channels for battery and accumulator tests with capacity up to 100 milliamperes per hour (mA/h) and has software for control, visualisation and data processing. It includes graphical presentation of the data, duration of the records of the cycles charge / discharge cycles up to 30 days with different currents value and reference voltage set in the tester by the software.

The technical parameters are :
- 3 different modes for every channel
- the current modes are: charge from 0 to 35 milliamperes (mA) step 15 microamperes (uA); discharge from 0 to 35 milliamperes (mA) step 15 microamperes (uA)
- reference Voltage U: 0-6 Volts, step 3 millivolts (mV)
- multiplier: from 1 to 20

The research institute is looking for commercial agreements with technical assistance with companies as technical support and know-how from the developer will be ensured for integration of the device in their own solutions.

Advantages & innovations - the tester is highly accurate in comparison to existing products; - it supports up to 8 independent channels, having 3 different modes for every channel, for investigating the parameters of batteries which also gives it a competitive advantage; - the control software is adaptable to the specific needs of the client and also allows up to 30 days duration of the testing records (charging / discharging cycles).
