Full description
A consortium of 8 non-academic organizations (UK, Austria, Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, The Netherlands) aims to develop an Augmented Digital Freight Forwarder Platform for supporting the decision-making of the international transportation and logistics companies with a multi-modal network.
Due to the climate change, safety, disruptive incidents, and energy and fuel cost challenges, the proposed platform will have the following benefits for international transportation and logistics companies:
  • Cost-effective through providing optimum solutions like multimodal routs, splitting and merging the cargo;
  • Green solution by cutting the energy and fuel consumption and cost;
  • Resilience solution that ensures the continuity of operations after happening disruption;
  • Autonomous disruption detector that enables the company to recognise the disruption quickly and automatically;
  • Safe transit that decreases the risk cost of the company by safe routing;
  • IoT enabler that helps the company to track and trace the users, cargo, and equipment in real-time.

Expected outcomes:
  • An adaptive multimodal European freight transport and logistics network.
  • Resilient freight transport and logistics networks: better operational interconnectivity, services provided based on real-time information, pre-defined alternative routes and synchro-modal approaches, robust data management, secure and resilient digital logistic and network management tools.
  • New cost-efficient business models and services towards resilient and 0-emission logistics supported by appropriate regulatory frameworks and participatory planning processes.
