Project name:

A French technology transfer company seeks for industrial partners in Europe to test a new patented production process for B12P2 material (Boron subphosphide)

Status: Idea
Creation date: 16-03-2023

Project objectives:

Short summary The French technology transfer company, created in 2012, is specialized in disruptive innovations with a high societal impact. It offers industrial partners the opportunity to test a new patented production process for B12P2 material through a license agreement. The manufacturers will be involved in the following industrial applications: - Machining and cutting tools - Electronics - Wear protection coatings - High-performance integrated circuit microelectronic components - Diodes op

Full description Until now, the industrial production of B12P2 material was limited due to the difficulty of producing it in large quantities. This new patented process makes it possible to produce the B12P2 for industrial needs with limited costs and a lower environmental impact compared to the production of other extra-hard materials. Some of the market applications are as follows: - Machining and cutting tools (saws, drill bits, reamers, guide bushes, milling cutters, lathe tools, punches), - Electronics (Applications of abrasions substitute for diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride) - Wear protection coatings (for turbine blades of aircraft engines, gas power plants, metallurgical furnaces - High-performance integrated circuit microelectronic components. (Excellent conductor of heat) - Diodes operating in aggressive environments (chemical, thermal or mechanical) - Thermosetting resins (the addition of a hard, light, heat-conducting material)

Advantages and innovations
  • This invention will allow using the B12P2 material in several applications and manufacturing processes for the first time.
  • B12P2 has exceptional properties for numerous industrial applications: very high hardness (Hv~35GPa), remarkable chemical and thermal stability, refractory, wide gap semiconductor, thermoelectric power with high figure of merit (at high temperature)
