NEXT2ENZYME

Enzymes are enabling various industries to guarantee the quality and stability of its products with increased production efficiency. The use of enzyme(s) provides environment-friendly products to consumers thanks to using less energy, water and raw materials and generating less waste. Therefore, industry has been adopting enzymes enabling the manufacturing of high-quality products, increasing the yields and avoiding unwanted by-products while reducing the environmental impact. Indeed, by 2030 enzymes could save up to 139 MtCO2eq in the food industry and up to 65 MtCO2eq in traditional industries (detergents, textiles, cosmetics and food). This is equivalent to the CO2 emissions of consuming 430 million barrels of oil or taking off the road nearly 40 million cars. The idea of the present project is to expand the use of enzymes by means of multidisciplinary approach which will ensure the development, the production and the application of novel and improved enzyme(s) in four different targeted markets: 1) washing agents and industrial detergents, 2) textile, 3) cosmetics, 4) food industry.
