Project name:

Turning biogas waste into energy and drinking water

Status: Idea
Creation date: 03-01-2023

Project objectives:

Short summary A German company transforms manure and digestate in a climate neutral way into drinking water and energy without any CO2 emissions via a two-stage osmosis treatment filtration technology. Partners, such as, biogas plant construction companies or operators, farms or agricultural machinery construction are sought for licensing or technical cooperation.

Full description A German company specializes in the generation of truly climate-friendly sustainable water and energy from manure and biogas digestate. Their innovative two-stage osmosis treatment filtration technologies enable the conversion of manure or biogas digestate into clean water and additional energy, which can be converted into electricity in biogas plants. They offer solutions for small and large farms as well as for operators of biogas plants. The German company’s technology is based on a two-stage Osmosis Treatment™, which allows the critical ingredients of the manure, i.e. nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and all the organics, to be gently extracted as a concentrate at the beginning of the process without the addition of any external pressure. This reliably protects the subsequent reverse osmosis from the organics contained in the manure, and the reverse osmosis merely has to perform the simple task of a desalination plant, which enormously increases its service life and durability. The complete ingredients of the manure and digestate are retained in the separated solids and in the liquid concentrate. The entire process is carried out without the addition of any polymers or flocculation aids. There is no thermal or chemical product change. The manure concentrate is a valuable fertilizer and can be spread on arable land and on grassland within the scope of laws regarding the spreading of manure.

Advantages and innovations • No polymers or flocculation aids required • No thermal or chemical product change • Climate neutral process • Valuable fertilizer • Saves transport costs for manure
