Summary
A UK-based SME has developed a novel coating technology with anti-bacterial and anti-viral efficacy they will further develop and scale. They are looking for an industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) filter manufacturer to join a consortium for a Eurostars proposal with the partnership envisaged as a Research Cooperation Agreement. The call deadline is 4th November 2021, the deadline for EOIs is 24th October 2021. The project is expected to last 12 months
Description
A UK-based SME has developed a novel nanocoating technology to be used as an antiviral coating on face mask and industrial filters. These developed filters both filter out and deactivate bacteria and virus including coronavirus. Following a recent successful project to prove the concept, the SME is looking to further develop and scale up this technology.
The UK SME is building a research consortium for a Eurostars proposal and already have R&D partners from Spain and the Czech Republic as well as an industrial partner from Spain to look at developing and scaling the technology. The UK SME is looking for a European heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) filter manufacturer to join the consortium. The filter manufacturer is expected to provide their expertise to examine the application of the anti-infective technology to manufacturing processes and performance of the coated product.
It is expected that the partnership will take the form of a Research Cooperation Agreement
Advantages and Innovations
The UK-based SME's technology has the following advantages:
Proven efficacy against bacteria and viruses, including coronavirus.
The coating on filters enables the capture and inactivation of bacteria and viruses giving an additional layer of protection. The unique technology ensures bonding of the particles on the surface preventing any harmful release of them to the users.
Developed for face masks as the focus of the prototype project, but has extensive potential for other applications such as industrial filters for air and water filtration systems and antibiofilm surfaces
Stage of Development
Under development/lab tested
