WISE-PE aims to advance the field of PE by developing novel C&HM solutions and WBG semiconductors-based PE technologies. Through a combination of data-driven and physics-of-failure (PoF)-based approaches, the WISE-PE project will enable the identification of subtle degradation and impending failures and thereby optimize system performance, reduce maintenance costs, and extend component lifetime in RE applications. By integrating advanced co-design optimization and cloud-connected digital twin (DT) frameworks, as well as robust C&HM capabilities, WISE-PE will enhance the LCoE, efficiency, and reliability of WBG-based PE systems. Also, the integration of C&HM systems into existing PE architectures will be investigated, ensuring seamless and effective monitoring of PE devices in real-world applications. The successful development of these C&HM techniques will have a profound impact on the reliability and safety of PE systems, paving the way for the widespread adoption of MVDC and HVDC transmission technologies in modern power grids. By improving the reliability of WBG PE, WISE-PE not only facilitates a more robust energy sector but also contributes to the digital transformation of the European economy.
